- When I secured my first funding as a PI for a National Research Plan project in 2003, I began my personnel training activity by starting to supervise a doctoral thesis.
- Currently, I have formed a team consisting of 7 women and 13 men, a balance above the average in the fields of physics and computing, which are typically low in female presence
- We are 20 people from 7 countries (Angola, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Spain, Madagascar, Sweden and Zambia), and equality and diversity are our core values. Maintaining a diverse multidisciplinary team creates a rich multicultural environment.
- I have supervised 6 doctoral theses, with two more in progress, and 5 master's theses.
- Along this journey, I have mentoree a total of 49 individuals, including undergraduate and doctoral students in astronomy, software engineers, postdoctoral researchers in computer science, and experts in management and communication. My interest in conducting comprehensive research and my passion for teamwork, along with an intense effort to obtain and manage the necessary funding, have been key to this achievement.
- Most of my graduates have worked or are working in relevant centres such as SKAO, ESO, Submillimeter Array, the ASIAA Institute in Taiwan, Harvard CfA, ALMA-Japan, ALMA-Chile, the Universities of Edinburgh, Valencia, or Granada, or in companies.
- I strive to involve my group both in my research activity and in the associated technological developments, always fostering a critical and independent perspective.
- My career has been guided by the principles of Open Science, values that I have instilled in my team, including collaborative science and its democratisation, diversity, equality, and the recognition of contributions regardless of job level, always ensuring that women strengthen their leadership roles.
