Participation in committees and responsabilities

Here I summarize my participation in committees and working groups, mainly in the following areas:

  • Coordination of the SKA: serving as a member of the Spanish Delegation on the SKAO Council as Scientific Advisor to the MCIU, Spain’s representative in the European SKA Forum, and an invited member of various international scientific and technological committees.
  • Development of the SKA Regional Centres (SRC): including being a member of the SRC Steering Committee (SRCSC) and chairing its Working Group "SKA Science Archive".
  • Institutional R&D responsibilities: such as Deputy Director for Technological Affairs at the IAA, chair of the "Radio Astronomy Infrastructures" group of the RIA, Spanish representative on the user committee of the European Southern Observatory, or member of the Advisory Committee for Singular Infrastructures (CAIS), with a recent nomination as chair by the Ministry. I am also a guarantor and member of the Executive and Scientific Committees of the IAA Severo Ochoa excellence project.
  • Gender balance and inclusion: through the Africa-Europe Radio Astronomy Platform and its group on Inclusion and Women in Science, the African Network of Women in Astronomy, or events aimed at improving equality policies. I try to highlight in various forums the need to humanize science to facilitate work-life balance.
  • Sustainability: with activities aimed at promoting, among the international SKA community, the developments of Spanish centres and companies in renewable energy, or the use of clean energy in the SKA, including a presentation at the European Parliament.
  • Organization of R&D+i activities: as part of the Scientific Organizing Committee in about 35 conferences, meetings, and advanced schools on scientific and technological topics, including galaxy evolution, SKA, e-Science, Open Science, and industrial opportunities.
