Background
I carried out my PhD from 1990 to 1993 at the Max-Planck-Institute for Nuclear and Cosmo Physics in Heidelberg. The topic of my thesis was the correlation between the FIR and radio emission of galaxies.
After finishing my thesis I had postdoctal stay of two years at the Astrophysics Group of the Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge (UK), followed by a one-year postdoc at the Osservatorio di Arcetri in Florence (Italy).
Since 1996 I’m working in Granada, first for one year at the Departamento de Física Teórica y del Cosmos at the University. Then, from 1997 to 2002, I worked as a support astronomer at the 30m telescope of the Instituto de Radioastronomía Milimétrica (IRAM) in Granada. From 2002 to 2004 I had a postdoc position at the Instituto de Astrofísica
de Andalucía and since 2007 I’m having a Ramón y Cajal Research Fellowship at the Departamento de Física Teórica y del Cosmos at the University of Granada.
My research interests have always been the interstellar medium and star formation in galaxies. Recently, I’m main research intersts are isolated galaxies (AMIGA project) and dense gas and dust and star formation in galaxies in interaction, with a particular interest in Tidal Dwarf Galaxies.
