Background

Maria Ángeles Mendoza Pérez received the M.S. degree in Physics in 1999 and the Ph.D. in the Dept. Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence in 2010, both from the University of Granada. She has enjoyed several fellowships; fellowship for training on lines of interest in the industrial sector (Spanish National Research Council – CSIC); fellowship of Andalusian Programme for Scientific Communication (Andalusia Council). Ph.D. fellowship (FPI) for processing and extraction of visual signals (Ministry of Science and Technology of Spain). She has been a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Dept. of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence of the University of Granada during five years. Besides, she has participated on several funded national projects involving Machine Learning and Signal Processing. Her main research line has been focused on Automatic Pattern Recognition by Probabilistic Graphical Models. As for her experience as a programmer in scientific projects, she has collaborated in international research projects; the project “Calar Alto Legacy Integral Field spectroscopy Area (CALIFA) survey”, and the project “Preparing for Euclid: The ESA Mission to Map the Dark Universe”. In addition, she enjoyed a research contract associated to the PLATO 2.0 mission, for classification and pattern recognition in AF-type stars by supervised and unsupervised techniques. She has also collaborated with the Polytechnic Dept. of Engineering and Architecture at the University of Udine (Italy), developing open-access software about parametrization and automatic denoising of volcanic-seismic signals for automatic recognition.

Currently, she enjoys a Severo Ochoa contract for the SKA Regional Centre prototype as a Science domain services engineer.
